Assistant Manager, Marine Claims

• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding marine claims & carrier liability, claims benefits and the claims process.
• Request and review documents to ensure all necessary information and requirements for processing insurance claims are submitted, enabling proper determination of claim validity.
• Ensure all claims registers comply with regulatory requirements and SOP.
• Record and monitor the progress of all claim transactions to ensure accurate tracking and resolution.
• Communicate directly with customers on the status of claims, including working with the Sales & Underwriting & Branches team and various brokers and agents.
• Prepare claims exceeding authority limits for supervisor review and approval while compiling marine claims reports and recommending actions based on claim assessments or surveyor findings.
• Review and report Large Loss claims to the supervisor, verifying coverage validity and identifying the need for further investigation when necessary.
• Ensure the claims process complies with all legal, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
• Coordinate with the Underwriting and Finance teams to process payments to the customers and the service providers in accordance with the SLA.
• Track and follow-up on outstanding claims, ensuring adherence to timelines as defined in the SOP.
• Verify and ensure all recovery documents are submitted to complete the recovery process accurately.
• Generate regular and ad-hoc reports based on supervisor assignments.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance or related fields.
• 3+ years of experience in marine claims handling with non-Life insurance companies or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of carrier liability and marine insurance claims processes, experience in other insurance products such as Fire or IAR will be an advantage. 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, brokers and internal teams.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritize work, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to company systems.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and a positive, honest attitude.
